On January 16, 2009, Arnold Palmer and Bob Hope Chrysler Classic Directors visited the Arnold Palmer Prostate Center at Eisenhower Lucy Curci Cancer Center to make a very special presentation to Eisenhower executives, physicians and staff. In addition to the $1 million donation made by the Classic to Eisenhower Medical Center, an additional $250,000 was presented at the Arnold Palmer Prostate Center.

Dr. Paul Adams, Medical Director of the Arnold Palmer Prostate Center, accepted the check from Mr. Palmer and announced that the donation would help establish the new Eisenhower Robotics Institute, which includes the da Vinci S HD system, currently being used by several Eisenhower urologists in the surgical treatment of prostate cancer. This less invasive prostatectomy, one of several treatment options available at the Arnold Palmer Prostate Center, allows the surgeon to remove the prostate using only a few small incisions. The robotic-assisted procedure allows the surgeon to protect nerve bundles, reducing the side effects of incontinence and erectile dysfunction commonly associated with removal of the prostate.
