• Eisenhower Honors a Precious Tradition — Volunteers

National Volunteer Week is April 23 to 29, a time the nation has set aside to thank one of its most precious commodities — volunteers — and to call the public's attention to all that they do to improve our communities. Michael D. Landes, Eisenhower Medical Center Foundation President, calls the volunteers at Eisenhower the “heart of the organization,” and Rhiannon Howell, Eisenhower’s Director of Volunteer Services, says they are the “arms, legs, hands and feet” of the organization.

“We have about 700 volunteers on the roll here at Eisenhower,” Howell says. “They do everything from greeting patients and retail work at our Collectors Corner gift shops to assisting the nursing staff. They provide tender loving care to our patients and visitors.”

Eisenhower will honor its volunteers throughout the week with a luncheon and entertainment. This year’s entertainment will consist of a talent show presented by — none other than the volunteers, who have been a vital part of Eisenhower since its inception in 1971.
