• Banner Year for Eisenhower Auxiliary

The good news was plentiful at the 38th annual meeting of the Eisenhower Medical Center Auxiliary held April 18.

High on the list of successes for the year included the Auxiliary’s annual gala, Holiday Voices, which produced a net profit of $175,000. In addition, Dr. Mel Barton, Vice President of the Auxiliary’s Collectors Corner, announced an increase of 15 percent in sales over the previous year and presented a $300,000 check to the Auxiliary.

While many hospital volunteer programs are losing volunteers, Eisenhower Medical Center’s program is growing. Gene Richards, Vice President, Volunteer Services, reported that including full-time, seasonal and junior volunteers, more than 850 active volunteers logged over 147,600 hours in 2006.

An event highlight was the presentation of a check by Auxiliary President Florence Tallent for $250,000 to G. Aubrey Serfling, President and Chief Executive Officer, Eisenhower Medical Center, and Michael Landes, President, Foundation, for the completion of the Auxiliary’s $500,000 pledge for the purchase of a comprehensive, state-of-the-art video camera system aiding laparoscopic surgeries in the hospital’s operating rooms. In addition, the Auxiliary made a $250,000 contribution to Campaign Eisenhower Phase Two , the Medical Center’s capital campaign.

Since 1970, the Eisenhower Medical Center Auxiliary has made invaluable contributions to the growth of Eisenhower Medical Center. The Auxiliary is one of the largest and most active volunteer organizations in the state.
